FAA Notice of Preliminary Findings (NPF) Response

A Notice of Preliminary Findings is not a denial. It states the FAA's initial concerns about a proposed structure and opens a discussion about how to resolve them. Adjustments often remove the issue entirely. Airspace Strategy Advisors helps sponsors understand what the FAA found and choose the response most likely to reach a Determination of No Hazard.

How we help

  • Read the findings. Identify which FAA office or airspace factor raised the concern, and how much it actually limits the project.
  • Weigh the options. Compare a height reduction, a small change in location, marking and lighting, or a request for further study, which may include a public comment period.
  • Respond on time. NPF letters set a response deadline, and missing it can stall or end the study.
  • Coordinate. Work with the FAA and, where appropriate, the affected airport, to move toward a final determination.

If the FAA issues a Determination of Hazard

A Determination of Hazard may be eligible for a petition for discretionary review under 14 CFR Part 77, Subpart E, on a short deadline. We help clients decide quickly whether a petition, a revised proposal or a design change is the better path.
